Barack Obama & the DC School Voucher Program
Recently students and supporters protested a move to kill DC's wildly successful voucher program. A recent DOE study found that after three years in private schools, students who entered the program at its inception were 19 months ahead in reading of applicants still trapped in DC's public schools-and at half the per student cost. Naturally, Barack Obama himself sees the value in private education. He himself was a scholarship recipient as a youth, and sends his kids to private schools, just as this program attempts to do for the rest of DC.

Excellent post. This is exactly what scares me about a Democratic congress. I’m a little nervous about giving money to Reason in protest, however. Will my donation be funding their crazy magazine?

Adam, I think you’re totally right – Obama’s decision to end the voucher system was amiss, but Reason seems even crazier!

Reason TV has been producing some really excellent coverage of the issue, but I would prefer to find a cause more directly related to the specific problem. Do you have any suggestions?
